About the Tool
This tool is intended to be used for one of two purposes: auditing and/or coding of E&M Services, using either the 1995 or 1997 CMS Guidelines. For the 1997 Guidelines, specialties are identified, per the guidelines. For both sets of guidelines, a General tool is available.
Be sure to read the instructions that accompany each tool. The tools typically includes sheets with the CMS Table of Risk, Examples of Risk, and tables showing the E&M Codes for all currently approved types of encounters.
